stuff

1. Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle) will be directing a co-staring in the Green Hornet movie as the famous Kato. Seth Rogen is set to play The Green Hornet. Seth and and Evan (SuperBad) wrote the movie.

2. Battle in Seattle

3. Good Dick

4. A Shark Ate Me!!!

5. Guy Ritchie (Snatch) is doing a Sherlock Holmes based of a new comic book. Robert Downey jr and mark strong are signed on, Jude Law is looking to be Watson.

6. There is a new show coming to ABC, Called Flash Forward. Its follows The Events after the entire world blacks out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds. Sounds Crazy, but will probably be good. Who new a show about a crashed passenger plane would rule so hard?

7. Apparently Alan Moore hates Hollywood and DC and Marvel anything to do with movies let alone comic movies. i just read up on it and man that guy is weird. The Watchmen, FOX legal issues are tickling his fancy.

dark knight sequel rumors are denied

Yesterday, we reported that “Dark Knight” castmember Michael Caine claimed that as far as he knew, the villains for the next “Batman” film had been cast with Johnny Depp landing the role of The Riddler, and Philip Seymour Hoffman playing The Penguin. Today at the Toronto Film Festival, we went right to the source and asked Hoffman directly if he indeed had been cast as The Penguin.

“No one has talked to me about it ever — never,” replied Hoffman. “It happened, like, five years ago, too. It was a rumor back then and it’s still a rumor. [laughs] It’s just in the press. It’s funny.”

To further cement this issue, Hoffman added that he’d never met Nolan (”Maybe I did or met him in passing?”), and that his interest in comic book movies is purely on a fan level, and he intended to keep it that way.

“I’m such a fan of those movies,” related Hoffman. “Comic book movies in general I look forward to — I am a real cheerleader for them. I want them to do well because those are terrific stories. As a kid I was a big comic book collector. What [Nolan]’s doing is taking it in a whole other exciting great place. I’m more a fan, so the interest of being in it isn’t that great. It’s more the interest in wanting to see the next one. It’s probably better that way.”

When further pressed for his level of interest in the role if Warner Bros. approached him about the role, Hoffman said, “I don’t know. I think I’m more interested in seeing someone else do it. I don’t know if I’d be a good Penguin to be quite honest. [laughs]”

just a few things

NEW TMNT LIVE ACTION?!! maybe not . .. .

Kevin Eastman's much-discussed rumor of a live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles may have been quickly shot down last week, but that's not the end of this story.
TMNT co-creator and owner Peter Laird has confirmed to MTV News that he is close to a deal for a live-action/CGI hybrid "TMNT" feature film, and that he'd like to get "TMNT" voice actors Chris Evans and Sarah Michelle Gellar back..."but this time in the flesh."

this makes me sad becuase i dont want to see sarah michelle gellar as april oniel EVER, she is not a good face for the part. Chris evans on the other hand i have no problem with (GO WATCH LONDON), so go for it dude, although id rather see an older casey jones. and they better bring back ernie
reyes jr (KENO!) and corey feldman could always use work so he should voice again.

hell yeah!

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" co-creator Kevin Eastman has confirmed the rumors that Imagi and Warner Bros. are in talks to develop a new live-action movie based on the characters. He posted the following at HeavyMetal.com:

Yes, it is true. Although the CGI film did well enough to warrent a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better "re-invention" (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the TMNT's, in a live action film--like what was done with Batman. Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc...there have been talks, trips to Northampton to talk to Mr Laird, and discussions with the original "first" TMNT film director Steve Barron to come back and do it right--but no official word yet...will keep you posted. Best, Kevin

The CG-animated movie TMNT, which was released in March of 2007, earned $95 million worldwide compared to its $34 million budget.

SUPERMAN REDO lol

Just a few days after this article was posted, Warner Bros. Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov has told The Wall Street Journal that the studio is going to be reintroducing Superman. We assume this will be similar to how Louis Leterrier's The Incredible Hulk was a reboot of Ang Lee's Hulk. Here is what the article says:

Warner Bros. also put on hold plans for another movie starring multiple superheroes -- known as "Batman vs. Superman" -- after the $215 million "Superman Returns," which had disappointing box-office returns, didn't please executives. "'Superman' didn't quite work as a film in the way that we wanted it to," says Mr. Robinov. "It didn't position the character the way he needed to be positioned." "Had 'Superman' worked in 2006, we would have had a movie for Christmas of this year or 2009," he adds. "But now the plan is just to reintroduce Superman without regard to a Batman and Superman movie at all."

The article also talks about Warner Bros. adapting other DC properties over the new few years. "By 2011, Mr. Robinov plans for DC Comics to supply the material for up to two of the six to eight tent-pole films he hopes Warner Bros. will have in the pipeline by then," it says. Those projects will likely be about single characters at first, and will be darker much like The Dark Knight:

With "Batman vs. Superman" and "Justice League" stalled, Warner Bros. has quietly adopted Marvel's model of releasing a single film for each character, and then using those movies and their sequels to build up to a multicharacter film. "Along those lines, we have been developing every DC character that we own," Mr. Robinov says.

Like the recent Batman sequel -- which has become the highest-grossing film of the year thus far -- Mr. Robinov wants his next pack of superhero movies to be bathed in the same brooding tone as "The Dark Knight." Creatively, he sees exploring the evil side to characters as the key to unlocking some of Warner Bros.' DC properties. "We're going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it," he says. That goes for the company's Superman franchise as well.

The studio is set to announce its plans for future DC movies in the next month. For now, though, it is focused on releasing four comic-book films in the next three years, including a third Batman film, a new film reintroducing Superman, and two movies focusing on other DC Comics characters. Movies featuring Green Lantern, Flash, Green Arrow, and Wonder Woman are all in active development.

the best thing about this is superman can only get better. unless they write a superman graphic novel where superman falls off a horse and ends up in a wheelchair for the rest of his life and they re-cast christopher reeve's . . . .back from the dead. . . . . . . . TOO SOON?

this was quite a shocker.

i just found out about this, but apparently my favorite comic artist of all time Michael Turner has past away with complications of bone cancer. He had been struggling with it for quite some time. He wrote my favorite comic of all time FATHOM, if you like comics and haven't read or seen it let me know and you can borrow it. Since being diagnosed with cancer many years ago he has mostly done covers for many dc/marvel and top cow titles. Here are a few of my favorites.

Aronofsky and Self Confirmed for RoboCop
Source: MGM
July 24, 2008

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM) has signed Darren Aronofsky to direct and David Self to write a new installment for its "RoboCop" franchise. Aronofsky, the director of The Fountain, and Self, the writer of Road to Perdition, make a formidable creative team, fast tracking the RoboCop motion picture and spotlighting it as one of the most anticipated new films for 2010.

The announcement was made today by Mary Parent, Chairman, Worldwide Motion Picture Group, MGM.

In making the announcement Parent said: "Darren is undeniably one of the most talented, original and visceral film makers, and David is one of the greatest writers in Hollywood. All of us at MGM couldn't be more excited."

Phoenix Pictures' Mike Medavoy, Arnold Messer, Brad Fischer and David Thwaites will produce "RoboCop." Cale Boyter, Executive Vice President Production at MGM will oversee the project for the studio.

Phoenix Pictures' Chairman and CEO Mike Medavoy said: "After making the first 'RoboCop' at Orion more than 20 years ago, I'm thrilled to be helping to return this character to the screen with our partners at MGM and through the eyes of Darren Aronofsky and David Self."

Why So Serious!?

Apparently Heath Ledger's role as the Joker in this summer's Dark Knight is receiving some serious Oscar buzz. if he won in next years Oscars it would make him the second to ever accept an gold man from the grave. This makes me so much more excited to see the movie.

Nottingham

Apparently Ridley Scott is taking a go at the story of Robin Hood. Russel Crowe is set to play a more noble Sheriff and apparently Christian Bale is supposed to be the shady Robin Hood, along with Sienna Miller to complete a love-trianlge as Maid Marian.

Crowe has worked with Scott before on Gladiator and it was the opposite of disappointing and Crowe and Bale have teamed-up before with Yuma so i am excited to see them back together only this time Bale will be wearing green tights rather than a cape and cod piece.

ps. i just saw a cat fat between 3 cats and another cat who was protecting kittens. it was adorably sweet!

teasers

i know a lot of people are tired of these comic books jumping to the big screen, but it still gets me excited to see what someone can do with the characters i have been following ever since i could read or even look at a picture. the new installment of the punisher is being released in Decmber of this year and i think it can be promising. it stars Ray Stevenson of the mini-series Rome, and is directed by Lexi Alexander. She directed a little indie flick called green street hooligans, which revolves around the world of soccer, or as the Europeans say futbol. i loved Green street hooligans and with all the action in that movie i can only assume her plate is not full when taking on a project like frank castle. I know what you are thinking, "what about that awesome punisher movie with Thomas Jane, and John Travolta?" . . .what happened was, it didn't do well because it wasn't a very good movie. This new one has nothing to do with the that version or the 1989 version with Dolph Lundgren. Its kinda of like what they just did with the Incredible hulk, they tossed out everything they saw with the Ang Lee version and started fresh.
So here you go. first look at Punisher: War Zone

Fresh start

My friend Micky and i just started a blog called top10magazine, and in light of that i decided i wanted to post other things un-related to our top10's so i figured id forget my juvenile days of livejournal and start fresh with a new blog.
